COVID-19 Vaccines

πŸ’‰ Moderna and Pfizer (mRNA) have released new COVID-19 vaccines for the 2024-25 season.

πŸ’‰ The new shots from Pfizer and Moderna are designed to target the KP.2 strain, a descendant of the JN.1 variant.

πŸ’‰ It is recommended that everyone 6 months and older get the latest COVID-19 vaccine.

πŸ’‰ Only one dose is needed for most people ages 5 years and up.

πŸ’‰ Some kids under age 5 years may need additional doses depending on how many doses they had in prior seasons.

πŸ’‰ People with high-risk conditions will have an opportunity to get an additional dose later in the season.

πŸ’‰ If you are one of the MANY people who just had COVID-19 this summer, the CDC says you can wait up to 3 months to get the new one. But you can also get it right way if you prefer.

πŸ’‰ You can safely co-administer flu and COVID-19 vaccines if you choose. We recommend this for most people.

πŸ’‰ Don’t worry about ensuring you get the β€œright” version. As soon as the 2024-2025 rendition was approved, the old 2023-2024 version lost its approval. The β€œold” version can no longer be used and is not being distributed to clinics or pharmacies.
